Happy Halloween!
Sam and the family came home around noon on Thursday. Since we left the hospital before 3:48 PM, it was technically an early discharge, which means we’re entitled to a home nurse visit on Saturday. Sam slept pretty good the first night. She was up once around 1:00 AM and not again until 6:00 AM. Not bad! Mandy is still doing well, and Todd is making her get plenty of rest!
There are plenty of new pictures from the last 2 days, and a few previously unposted ones from Day 1.
No commentsWell, it’s Wednesday now and Mandy and Sam are looking forward to coming home tomorrow. Both are still doing great. Mandy is up and walking around, impressing all the nurses with the fact that after major abdominal surgery she hasn’t needed any pain killers other than over-the-counter ibuprofen. Last night for dinner, as far as the hospital is concerned, she enjoyed a hearty dinner of pork tenderloin with honey mustard glaze, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans, while Todd, not entitled to a hospital meal, enjoyed an Arby’s sandwich and chocolate milk shake. (Okay, who enjoyed what is not entirely accurate, but who needs to be the wiser?)
Sam spent the last two nights in the nursery where they have been watching her breathing a little bit; she sounds like she still has a little bit of gunk in her throat and lungs, but it’s improving and the doctor doesn’t think it’s anything to be too concerned about. Other than that she’s doing fantastic! She’s been extremely calm and quiet for the most part, even with the slew of visitors we’ve had.
On the home front, Rocky is taking good care of the house for us, but I think he’s getting a little anxious to meet his new “little” sister (who weighs more than he does).
Thank you to everyone for your visits, phone calls, cards, gifts, well-wishes, etc. We really appreciate you sharing this wonderful time with us! And don’t forget to keep checking back for new pictures!
No commentsIt’s a Girl!
Mandy went into labor at about 2:00 AM the morning of Sunday, October 26. Shortly after 4:00 AM we headed to the hospital. After many hours of hard labor (the last few assisted wonderfully by an epidural), Mandy’s dilation seemed to be stuck at about 7 cm and the doctor decided to perform a C-section. Shortly before 4:00 PM, Mandy gave birth to a beautiful, healthy little girl! Both Mom and Baby are doing great!
Name: Samantha Lee Menier
Time of Birth: 3:48 PM, 10/26/2003
Weight: 9 lbs 8 oz (Do I need to explain why she had trouble coming out?)
Length: 19″
Well, Mandy’s due date has arrived and still no news to report. We had another doctor appointment on the 21st and unfortunately there wasn’t much progress from last week.
Mandy has an appointment to be induced on the 30th (Thursday) if nothing happens before then. For those following the Baby Pool, that news bodes well for Mike G, but it’s not looking so good for Lee.
No commentsThanks for visiting! We just launched this site today so there’s not much to see yet, but that will change once Baby arrives!
Mandy had an appointment with the doctor today - maybe the last one! She is due on the 24th and doing great.
